Orthodontic treatment
Orthodontics, which means 'flat tooth' in Greek, is the science that deals with the diagnosis, treatment and protection of irregularities in the teeth and jaw. With orthodontic treatment, problems such as dental and orthopedic (related to the jaw bones) crowding, cavities, anterior openings, crossbites, dentures, cleft lip and palate, care of impacted teeth, stenosis of the jaw can be corrected.
It is more difficult to maintain oral hygiene in crooked teeth, gum diseases and caries occur more easily. When there is confusion and the joint relationship is broken, chewing cannot be done completely and some problems begin in the digestive system. In cases where the lower and upper teeth are not fully compatible with each other, too much loading on the jaw joint or a single tooth can lead to painful and difficult problems to treat. As a result of the incompatibility between the jaw and teeth, sometimes the teeth cannot find a place and remain embedded. Impacted teeth may dissolve the roots of adjacent teeth or cysts may form around impacted teeth, leading to pathological results.
